Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor took their first joint official visit together to Baylor this weekend.

“Thank u to Baylor and Waco for a great weekend and official visit. Headed back home shortly,” the 6-foot-1 Jones Tweeted Sunday.

The 6-10 Okafor Tweeted.: “Wheels up to Chicago. Bye Waco and all of Baylor. Can’t thank you enough for all the love and a great weekend!”

Jones has a family connection to Baylor in that his cousin, Jared Nuness, who played at Valparaiso, is the Bears’ Director of Player Development.

Okafor and Jones will trip together to Kansas on Oct. 18-20 and to Duke on Oct. 25-27.

Okafor will go by himself to Kentucky on Sept. 9 [for the UK Alumni Game] and Arizona on Oct. 11.

He will make unofficial visits to Illinois, Michigan State and Ohio State.

Jones will also take an official to Kentucky Sept 27-29. Arizona is not recruiting him.

“We’re talking quite often,” Jones told SNY.tv in this recent video interview about his relationship with Okafor. “We have three visits set up at the same time. We’re visiting Baylor, Kansas and Duke together. So talk quite often about it and excited to take our officials and to keep going with the process.”

By going on those visits together, Jones believes it sends a message that he and Okafor want to play together at the next level.

“I think it will be good for us,” he said. “I think it just sends a note that we’re serious about it, we’re not just all talk, and it’ll be a good time.”
