  • Junior college guard Carlos Morris clarified his recruitment with SNY.tv Wednesday, saying he plans to visit Minnesota this weekend and then probably UAB and Arkansas next month.

“Minnesota Friday through Sunday but that’s all I got set up right now,” the 6-foot-5, 173-pound Morris said by phone. “We’re going to talk more on campus but there’s questions I gotta ask them [about his role].”

He plans to visit UAB and Arkansas in October.

“I got a good relationship with UAB,” Morris said. “I’ll probably visit UAB sometime next month and Arkansas, too. Probably sometime next month.”

Morris has already visited Seton Hall but with the additions of guards Isaiah Whitehead and Khadeen Carrington, they no longer appear to be an option.

Seton Hall pledge Isaiah Whitehead, Syracuse commit Chris McCullough and uncommitted guard Isaiah Briscoe will headline the 2013 Sharette Dixon Classic Oct. 19 at the Gauchos Gym in The Bronx.

This annual event is being organized in memory of Sharette Dixon, wife of Minnesota assistant Kimani Young and mother of Kamaal Young (11), Khaliq Young (9) and Salimah Young (7). Proceeds from the event will support a family education fund that has been established for the three children.

The event will feature a sophomore game (6 p.m.) and an upperclassmen game (8 p.m.).

The recruitment of Iona Prep small forward Matt Ryan continues to evolve, with Duke the latest school to express interest.

Blue Devils associate head coach Steve “Wojo” Wojciechowski checked in on Ryan on Tuesday.

“I just got off the phone with Coach Wojo about a half hour ago,” the 6-foot-6, 200-pound Ryan, a native of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., told SNY.tv. “They just said that they were very interested and they were going to come up to my school in October to see me.
