Goodluck Okonboh, No. 21 in the ESPN 100, is headed to UNLV.
The 6-foot- 9 Okonoboh, who center at Wilbraham & Monson Academy (Mass.), picked the Rebels over Ohio State and Indiana.
“Next year I’ll be attending the University of Las Vegas,” he said on ESPNU.
“Just the relationship with coach [Dave] Rice. We built a great relationship on and off the court. They had the best blueprint for me. I’m just excited to be a Rebel, man.”
Asked what kind of player he will be in college, his AAU coach, Vin Pastore, told SNY.tv, “A great one.”
“Goodluck has a great motor and great timing off his feet. The combination of both makes him a great shot-blocker. HE has a college ready body and is both mentally and physically ready to compete at the highest level. He has a very much improved skillset and has a variety of low-post moves and a consistent step-away jump shot.”
Okonoboh joins 6-7 Baltimore St. Frances small forward Dwyane Morgan in UNLV’s 2014 class.
