NEW YORK –– Following his impressive performance last weekend at the National Prep Showcase, Brewster (N.H.) Academy 2015 point guard Donovan Mitchell has heard from a slew of schools, including Kansas and Florida.

Kansas assistant Norm Roberts reached out, while Florida offered Mitchell on Wednesday.

“I just received an offer from Florida [coach Billy Donovan],” he told SNY.tv Wednesday.

UConn, Providence, Boston College and Iowa also reached out to the 6-foot-3, 205-pound native of Elmsford, N.Y.

“All the schools that were there, they checked up on to me to make sure everything is alright,” Mitchell told SNY.tv Tuesday night after he watched Fordham beat Manhattan, 79-75, at Draddy Gym.

“It was pretty cool, the fact that they’re calling me about how I played. It’s really cool and exciting.”

Mitchell said he may take an unofficial to Florida in December.

“I think I’ll be visiting over December break,” he said. “We have a tournament in Florida so I’m looking to go visit Florida.”

Mitchell attended the Fordham-Manhattan game with 2015 Fordham pledge Eric Paschall, and said that Fordham’s thrilling victory has him considering playing close to home.

“Eric is going to Fordham,” he said. “We’ve been friends since we were 2 years old, so I’m here as a friend and a recruit.”

Asked if the win made him consider Fordham more seriously, Mitchell said:  “Yes it does because I see that with my friend Eric,  when he plays here next year, he’ll have his family at every game.”

The 6-6 Paschall, now at St. Thomas More, would love for Mitchell to join him.

“I’m trying to get Donovan to come with me for 2015 because me and him grew up together,” Paschall told SNY.tv. “That’s who I’m really trying to get here.”

St. John’s and Seton Hall are also recruiting Mitchell, and are relatively close to his ome.

“They’ve been around a bunch,” Mitchell said.

“All the schools are pretty much the same. I don’t really have a preference just yet but close to home is definitely appealing because my family gets to see me play.”
