Nine NBA scouts watched Creighton’s Doug McDermott drop 30 points on Seton Hall in his first Big East road game, the AP reported.
Two scouts from the Brooklyn Nets and Orlando Magic and one apiece from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Charlotte Bobcats, Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks, Utah Jazz and Washington Wizards watched as McDermott went for 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in Creighton’s 79-66 win at Seton Hall.
It was his 19th career 30-point game.
Compared to Kyle Korver by one veteran NBA scout, McDermott is projected as the No. 13 pick in the 2014 Draft by DraftExpress.com.
“It’s not fun,” Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard said of defending McDermott, the preseason Big East Player of the Year. “I didn’t mind his first 11 points, because we made him work and I was really worried about [Ethan] Wragge and [Jahenns] Manigat. It was those two guys who ended up really breaking it open for them. McDermott is going to get his. He just works so hard.”
