Ahmaad Rorie, a 6-foot point guard from Tacoma (Wash.) Lincoln, committed to Oregon on Thursday, adding another guard to a team short on backcourt players.
“I have official[ly] signed to play basketball at Oregon, God has a plan for me . #GoDucks #Blessed” he Tweeted.
A former Cal commit, Rorie figures to get playing time with the Ducks after the school dismissed guards Damyean Dotson and Dominic Artis and forward Brandon Austin in the wake of rape allegations.
Rorie initially announced May 5 — when the police report became public — that he would not visit Oregon, and he tripped to Washington State instead. He ultimately visited Eugene and now will join their 2014 class that also includes point guard Casey Benson, shooting guard JaQuan Lyle, forwards Jordan Bell, Dwayne Benjamin and Ray Kasongo and big man Michael Chandler.
