Nakye Sanders cut his list of schools to nine, with Temple, VCU, Duquesne, La Salle, Drexel, St. John’s, Towson, Old Dominion and Seton Hall making the cut. He will also stay in the Class of 2015.
Sanders’ AAU coach for New Heights, Chris Alesi, explained the reasoning for the decision not to reclassify, and the likely date for his decision.
“Through most of the spring and summer there was some uncertainty as to whether Nakye would stay in the class of 2015 or reclassify to 2016,” Alesi told SNY.tv. “After his performances during the Reebok Breakout camp and the Under Armour finals, the decision to stay in 2015 was made. Nakye has narrowed his list a little and may take a few early visits, but he and his family are definitely going to take their time through the recruiting process and target a spring signing.”
Sanders, listed at 6-foot-7, has offers from all schools in his top nine, except for VCU. Shaka Smart will watch him workout in September.
A long player with a tremendous motor, Alesi says that Sanders has a very bright future ahead of him.
“His upside is tremendous,” Alesi said. “Much like Hassan Martin, both extremely young for their class. Huge motor, ferocious rebounder and a developing face up game are what make him appealing to coaches.”
