Kejuan Johnson, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound wing from Hargrave (VA) Military, committed to Rutgers on Thursday.
Johnson, who took an official to Rutgers this past weekend, is Rutgers’ second commit in 2015, following Florida point guard Corey Sanders.
“Coach Eddie [Jordan] is a great coach,” Johnson told SNY.tv by phone. “I love everything he stands for and what he brings to Rutgers. It’s just a great situation for me coming in next year and being able to play next year as a freshman and get time and experience.”
“He looks at us as more than players, he looks at us as a family.”
Johnson said he also had offers from Georgia Tech, Western Kentucky, Florida Gulf Coast, East Tennessee State and Bowling Green.
Rutgers has two scholarships left for 2015, according to Jerry Carino.
“Coach Jordan and his staff do a great job with their players both on and off the court,” Hargrave coach AW Hamilton said. “Rutgers is a place Kejuan can excel in all aspects.
“Kejuan’s best skill is his high motor. He’s very good off the bounce and has a great mid-range game. He’s capable from the 3.”
Added Johnson: “I bring a lot of athleticism. I shoot very well. I’m just an attacking, bruising big guard.”
Justin Goode, a 6-3 shooting guard from Hargrave, also visited Rutgers with Johnson.
“I’m trying to get Justin best as I can,” Johnson said. “He’s hesitant on it but hopefully we’ll get him. I told him about my situation and he said he’ll think about it.”
“He loved it, too,” Hamilton added. “Hopefully, he will be making a decision soon.”
The NCAA early signing period runs Nov. 12-19.
