Isaiah Briscoe has made up his mind on where he will attend college, but won’t sign a National Letter of Intent this fall.
“In the spring,” he told SNY.tv of when he will sign an NLI.
Briscoe’s Roselle Catholic teammates Chris Silva, at left in this picture taken by Josh Newman, signed an NLI to South Carolina Wednesday, while Pierre Sarr signed to Monmouth.
The 6-foot-3 Briscoe, meantime, is set to announce Thursday evening on ESPNU and will announce for Kentucky, St. John’s or UConn.
“Probably in the past couple days,” Briscoe told Jeremy Schneider of NJ Advance Media about when his decision came. “My dad came home this week. He took off from work and we’ve just been talking, pointing out the pros and cons of each school. We finally came up to an agreement on my decision.”
Las Vegas Bishop Gorman 7-footer Stephen Zimmerman (and potentially others) won’t sign an NLI at all, as we reported here.
Briscoe, meantime, will wait until the spring.
That, of course, means this storyline could spill into the spring.
What if the coach at the school he commits to gets fired or leaves between now and the spring?
What if the school he commits to ends up having too many players at his position?
What if the school doesn’t have enough players?
All of that remains to be seen (and for his sake none of it happens), but for now Briscoe says he’s ready to get it over with.
“It’s fun, but now it’s not fun no more,” he told Schneider. “It’s business now. It’s time to get serious and it’s time to actually make a decision.”
Briscoe is projected as the No. 8 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com and has made no secret of the fact that he dreams of playing in the NBA.
Now everyone waits to see where he will spend at least one year of college.
