Duke doesn’t play again until Monday, and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski is clearly using this week to recruit.
This past Monday, Coach K and assistants Jeff Capel and Jon Scheyer visited 2016 guard Tyus Battle at Gill St. Bernard’s.
And on Tuesday, Coach K and Scheyer were in the stands to watch 2016 St. Louis Chaminade guard Jayson Tatum, the No. 1 player in the Class according to 247Sports composite rankings.
“He told me he was really impressed, especially how I played in the second half and when I had the ball in my hand and controlled the team,” Tatum told SNY.tv Wednesday.
North Carolina coach Roy Williams was also on hand as Tatum went for 25 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, 5 assists, and 1 block in an 81-59 win over Christian Brothers Academy, according to Tar Heel Times.
Tatum recently told SNY.tv six schools are working the hardest: Arizona, Saint Louis, Illinois, Duke, Kentucky and Missouri.
Meantime, Harry Giles wrote in his USA Today blog that he, Tatum and Dennis Smith Jr. all want to play together.
Said Tatum to SNY.tv: “Yeah, anything is possible.”
