Brooklyn (N.Y.) Thomas Jefferson junior guard Shamorie Ponds had quite a weekend for himself.
First Ponds went for 21 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists on Saturday as Jefferson beat Flower (MD), 63-51, at the MLK Hoopfest Showcase in Washington, D.C.
Then he visited Maryland and watched the No. 14 Terps handle Michigan State, 75-59, in Big Ten action.
“I liked the atmosphere, I like the big crowd like that,” Ponds told SNY.tv.
As for Maryland’s message to him, Ponds said, “They told me I would fit in well with what they’re trying to accomplish. I would play the one.”
He added: “They’re showing a lot of love.”
On Sunday night, Ponds then went for 26 points as Jefferson beat North Little Rock (AR), 95-64 with coaches from Maryland and USC watching.
Ponds also holds offers from Minnesota, St. John’s, Miami, Seton Hall, Oklahoma, Iona and Fordham.
