Texas parted ways with former coach Rick Barnes last weekend, and he subsequently became the new coach at Tennessee. Smart, 37, is 163-56 in six years at VCU, taking the Rams to the Final Four in 2011.Smart has still not said a final yes to Texas as the two sides "work out details." Contract could be as long as six years, source says.

MARSHALL TO STAY AT WICHITA STATE Meantime, Jason King of Bleacher Report writes that Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall will remain at that school and won’t entertain an offer from Auburn.
