Kentucky has offered Charlotte transfer Mike Thorne and reached out to uncommitted three-star shooting guard Dazon Ingram.
Thorne told SNY.tv that Kentucky had offered him and he plans to visit April 25-26 after he goes to Kansas.
Thorne visited Pittsburgh last week and is slated to visit Illinois April 17-19 and Kansas April 22.
“I mean, obviously [Kentucky] is a winning culture,” Thorne said. “Coach Cal is a great coach. He demands lot out of his players and gets them better.”
Obviously, Kentucky has a lot of playing time now after seven players — including bigs Karl-Anthony Towns, Willie Cauley-Stein, Trey Lyles and Dakari Johnson — declared for the NBA Draft.
“I would have to hear the situation out more to see how I would fit in,” Thorne said when asked about playing time at Kentucky.
Thorne previously told SNY.tv he’s considering Arizona, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Illinois, Kansas, Pittsburgh and “possibly N.C. State.”
Thorne averaged 10.1 points and 7.3 rebounds in 26.1 minutes per game this past season for Charlotte (14-18 , 7-11 Conference USA). He will graduate in May and will be immediately eligible.
Meantime, Ingram, a 6-5 shooting guard from Theodore (AL), pushed back his commitment date after hearing from Kentucky coach John Calipari.
“Just talked to Coach Calipari,” he Tweeted on Saturday.
Ingram decommitted from Alabama after Anthony Grant was fired, but has since met with new coach Avery Johnson and assistant Antoine Pettway, according to Al.com.
He has now pushed back his announcement date.
“Will not be signing monday…,” he Tweeted.
Ingram averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds and five assists last season.
Kentucky is involved with several uncommitted 2015 players, including guard Malik Newman, wing Jaylen Brown and bigs Cheick Diallo, Stephen Zimmerman and Thon Maker.
All of those players except Maker will be in New York this week for the Jordan Brand Classic.
