Rhode Island just got better.
The Rams learned that former Memphis sophomore forward Kuran Iverson has won his NCAA waiver and will be immediately eligible in the 2015-16 season, a source told SNY.tv.
The 6-foot-9 Iverson has been practicing with the Rams since mid-year when he transferred.
“Kuran is a talented, versatile, athletic player that fits our program’s style of play,” said head coach Dan Hurley when Iverson transferred. “We are excited about his desire to be a part of our hard-working culture at Rhode Island and get his career back on track as a high-level, top-rated recruit coming out of high school.”
With rising junior guard E.C. Matthews, a projected 2016 Draft pick, rising sophomore guard Jared Terrell and rising junior forward Hassan Martin also returning, the Rams will be loaded in 2015-16. They also added power forwards Nicola Akele and Leroy Butts as well as shooting guard Christion Thompson.
The Rams lost forward Gilvydas Biruta to graduation and forward Jarelle Reischel (Eastern Kentucky) and guard Biggie Minnis to transfer.
