WEST ORANGE, N.J. — Jagan Mosely says five schools are working the hardest for his services, and they are a Who’s Who of academic powerhouses.
The 6-foot-3 2016 combo guard ranks first in his class at Jersey City (N.J.) St. Anthony with a 4.2 GPA. The No. 26-ranked shooting guard in 2016 according to 247Sports, he plays for Naismith Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley.
“Harvard, Northwestern, Georgia Tech, Xavier and Boston University,” he told SNY.tv Saturday at the Mary Kline Classic. “I’ll probably cut my list around Peach Jam and then make a decision before my senior season.”
Harvard, which is also recruiting St. Patrick point guard Bryce Aiken, appears to be the frontrunner according to 247Sports.com’s crystal ball.
“Tradition and I love the coach [Tommy Amaker],” Mosely said. “He’s a point guard coach, players’ coach and he coached at Duke so he has a lot of experience.”
Northwestern is also in the mix.
“I like their communications school because I want to major in that,” he said. “I want to major in that, they have a great communications school.”
On Georgia Tech, he said, he likes “the city of Atlanta. I’ll probably go visit their after Peach Jam. And just the ACC, that’s a big deal.”
Boston University is where his older brother, Cheddi, plays.
“I have a good relationship with the head coach and all the coaches, the players,” he said. “I’ve been around there a lot times.”
Mosely also sounds very intrigued by Xavier.
“I like their efficiency,” he said. “The amount of times they made the Sweet 16 the past seven years, I like what their program stands for and their coach, Coach [Chris] Mack.”
Wherever he goes, Mosely figures to make an impact.
“I’m bringing my athleticism, my ability to get to the rim, distribute to my teammates and I’m working on my jump shot right now,” he said.
