  • 4_2971264WEST ORANGE, N.J. — Jagan Mosely says five schools are working the hardest for his services, and they are a Who’s Who of academic powerhouses.

The 6-foot-3 2016 combo guard ranks first in his class at Jersey City (N.J.) St. Anthony with a 4.2 GPA. The No. 26-ranked shooting guard in 2016 according to 247Sports, he plays for Naismith Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley.

“Harvard, Northwestern, Georgia Tech, Xavier and Boston University,” he told SNY.tv Saturday at the Mary Kline Classic. “I’ll probably cut my list around Peach Jam and then make a decision before my senior season.”

Harvard, which is also recruiting St. Patrick point guard Bryce Aiken, appears to be the frontrunner according to 247Sports.com’s crystal ball.

UnknownLarry Brown says John Calipari has “the best job in basketball” as the head coach at Kentucky.

“I really believe he’s got the best job in basketball,” the Hall of Fame SMU coach told The 4 Quarters Podcast on Monday. “Everywhere he goes, when we recruit, he’s recruiting five guys and he’s gonna get four and a half of them. We’re recruiting 150 and we’re lucky if we get two.

“He’s got a special situation. There’s about eight or 10 jobs in college that every year you’re going to be in the lottery. I got this theory, in the NBA when you’re bad, you’re in the lottery. In college when you’re great, you get multiple lottery picks.”

rp_primary_paschallmetEric Paschall, a 6-6 forward who earned Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year honors at Fordham University in 2014-15, has officially transferred to Villanova and is enrolled in the University’s summer session. Paschall, a native of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., retains three seasons of eligibility beginning with the 2016-17 season.

The news was first reported by SNY.tv in April.

Paschall averaged 15.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for the Rams as a rookie. In addition to his Atlantic 10 honor, Paschall shared the Met Basketball Rookie of the Year award with Seton Hall’s Angel Delgado. While with the Rams, he was coached by Tom Pecora, who served on the staff of Villanova head coach Jay Wright at Hofstra from 1994-2001.

TownsKarl-Anthony Towns says he has no preference between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Los Angeles Lakers, the teams picking first and second in the NBA Draft.

Towns is projected to go No. 1 to the Wolves by DraftExpress.com and many other mock drafts, with Duke’s Jahlil Okafor at No. 2 to the Lakers.

“No, no, the biggest thing is as a little kid you always want to just be part of the NBA, the greatest fraternity in the world,” the former Kentucky and St. Joe’s-Metuchen big man told Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress.com in the interview below in Los Angeles. “That’s all I want to do. I just want to be able to have my name play in the NBA and be able to wear a jersey with my name on the back. That’s the biggest thing, I don’t care where I play. I could play anywhere. As long as I have a home, I can’t wait to play for that home.”

UConn officially announced the additions of transfers Sterling Gibbs, Shonn Miller and Terry Larrier on Monday.

Gibbs (Seton Hall) and MIller (Cornell) are eligible for 2015-16, while Larrier (VCU) becomes eligible in 2016-17.

The three players, who have each signed a financial aid agreement with the university, will join incoming freshmen Jalen Adams and Steven Enoch to give the Huskies five newcomers to the program.

“We are excited to welcome the new student-athletes to our UConn family,” head coach Kevin Ollie said. “Along with being high quality players, they are young men of high character who also bring a level of maturity and experience with them. We are looking forward to having them with us as we head into the upcoming season.”
