Craig Randall, a 6-foot-4 left-handed lead guard from Phoenix (AZ) Shadow Mountain, committed to Memphis on Sunday, his father told SNY.tv.
At one point the Class of 2015 guard was a target of then St. John’s coach Steve Lavin.
“The reason he chose Memphis is the staff really showed great interest and a desire for what he could add to their program,” Craig Randall Sr. told SNY.tv. “Additionally, basketball matters a lot to that community. And they have a great staff from top to bottom.
With Markel Crawford, Kedren Johnson, Avery Woodson, Randall Broddie, Jeremiah Martin, Ricky Tarrant as well as Randall alongside Dedric and K.J. Lawson, Memphis now has a slew of guards on its roster for the upcoming season and will look to play “small ball,” sources told SNY.tv.
An Ohio native who moved to Arizona after his father took a job there, Randall ended up playing for coach Mike Bibby and averaging 21.2 points, 5.6 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals this season for Shadow Mountain. He made the All-Tournament team at the Beach Ball Classic in December.
