4_3721400UCLA on Wednesday landed a pledge from Jaylen Hands, a 6-foot-3 2017 point guard from San Diego (CA) Balboa Prep.

The No. 3 point guard in the Class of 2017 according to 247Sports.com also considered Arizona, USC, Stanford, California and Louisville, among others.

“Me and my family felt the most comfortable with UCLA and their staff as a whole,” Hands told Scout.com. “The education, the spotlight, the lineage of point guards being sent to the league, and being so close to home is something we couldn’t pass up.”

He added: “I love how they play up tempo and rely on their guards. They use the pick and roll well and put the ball in their guards hands and let them play freely. I feel with my ability to create for my teammates and as well as myself, I would fit in great with that system.”

Hands is the third commit in the Class of 2017 for head coach Steve Alford, following small forward LiAngelo Ball and power forward Jalen Hill.
