Jarrett Allen, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Austin (TX) St. Stephen’s Episcopal, enjoyed his official visit to Houston and will next trip to Kentucky in two weeks.
“It was good, I had a lot of fun and learned a lot about the school,” Allen told SNY.tv of Houston, which he visited instead of Kentucky as originally planned.
“I really liked the feel of the school community wise, the coaching staff, and the new facilities that they are building.”
Ranked the No. 6 power forward in the Class of 2016 by 247Sports.com, Allen is down to a list of eight: Kentucky, Houston, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Texas. He has already taken officials to Notre Dame, Kansas and Houston and has Kentucky up the weekend of Nov. 12. He has yet to decide where he might take a fifth and final official visit.
“I’m not sure what to expect from Kentucky’s campus yet,” he said. “What I like about them is the high level of basketball that they play every game and even in practice.”
As for the Kansas visit a week ago, he also enjoyed that.
“Kansas was also a very good visit,” he said. “I’m considering [them] just as much as the other schools, I’m just trying to take in all the information from my visits.”
Both Kentucky and Kansas are involved for several 2016 bigs, including Allen, Harry Giles, Marques Bolden and Udoka Azubuike.
