Zach Norvell, a 6-foot-4 left-handed shooting guard from Chicago (IL) Simeon, is headed to Gonzaga.
The No. 16 shooting guard in the Class of 2016 by 247Sports.com, he also considered Florida State, Iowa State and Georgetown.
“It felt like the best fit for me,” Norvell told ESPN. “I feel as though I can come in and have an impact. It’s an amazing team and an amazing program. I love the coaching staff and the players. The history and tradition of winning was important to me. They have been to 16 straight NCAA tournaments. That’s crazy.”
Norvell, who comes from the same high school as NBA stars Jabari Parker and Derrick Rose, averaged 13.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2 steals and 1.7 assists in 22 Nike EYBL games this summer.
He went off for 53 points, including 14 3-pointers, in one game.
He is Gonzaga’s third commit in 2016 following power forward Killian Tillie of France and center Zach Collins of Las Vegas Bishop Gorman.
“I will bring a lot of toughness and a high basketball IQ,” he told ESPN. “I come from a program with a history of winning and that’s one of the main reasons I picked Gonzaga.”
