Kentucky commits Wenyen Gabriel and Sacha Killeya-Jones will sign their National Letters of Intent this week after the early signing period begins on Wednesday.
Gabriel, the 6-foot-10, 195-pound forward from Wilbraham & Monson, will sign on Wednesday at 1 p.m., coach Mike Mannix told SNY.tv. He committed on Oct. 1 over Duke, UConn, Maryland and Providence.
The 6-10 Killeya-Jones out of Lynchburg (VA) Episcopal School will sign on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., he told SNY.tv. He committed on Aug. 19 over North Carolina, N.C. State, Kansas and others.
“I’m very excited,” he said. “It will be at Rick Lewis’ preseason tournament next weekend.”
Gabriel and Killeya-Jones — along with New Zealand big man Tai Wynyard, who arrives in December — will help offset the losses of Alex Poythress and perhaps Marcus Lee from the Kentucky front court.
Wynyard’s mother, Karmyn, told SNY.tv he plans to sign soon.
“He plans on signing this month, we still have to talk with coaches regarding paperwork, etc.” she said by email.
Kentucky remains in the mix for several uncommitted 2016 players, including guards De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, Kobi Simmons, Rawle Alkins and big men Marques Bolden, Jarrett Allen, Bam Adebayo and Udoka Azubuike.
