Bam Adebayo will make his college announcement on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. on Mike & Mike on ESPN News.
N.C. State, Kentucky and Auburn are among those involved for the 6-foot-10 power forward from High Point Christian (N.C.). He took officials to the first two and an unofficial to Auburn.
Adebayo’s most recent visit came to N.C. State in late October.
“It was exciting,” Eric Peartree, Adebayo’s mentor, told Scout.com. “I think he had a great time. It was electric, with Clemson in town and just being able for him to interact with the fanbase. Bam’s mom was able to come for the weekend and so overall it was a great experience.
“Junior [Smith] was there with his family. I really believe it was like a homecoming for Bam… it was like being back with family again.”
N.C. State already landed a verbal pledge from Smith Jr., a close friend of Adebayo’s. Smith Jr. recently announced he will enroll at N.C. State in January in order to facilitate his ACL recovery.
Still, Kentucky coach John Calipari has met with Adebayo — and his mother — in North Carolina, and sources said Kentucky remains in very strong position to land the big man.
Kentucky already has forwards Sacha Killeya-Jones, Wenyen Gabriel and Tai Wynyard committed, and Adebayo would add still more depth to the front court beginning 2016. Kentucky also has a pledge from point guard De’Aaron Fox and remains in the mix for guard Malik Monk, among others.
Adebayo averaged 14.2 points and 10.6 rebounds for Team Loaded North Carolina on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit this season.
