    Recruiting Roundup: Rutgers Lands European Forward; Updates on Naz Reid, Jordan Tucker, Aaron Walker

    Issa Thiam, a 6-9 small forward from the Canarias Basketball Academy, committed to Rutgers, sources confirmed to SNY.tv.

    Known as a shooter, Thiam joins Brooklyn Lincoln wing Jahlil Tripp and Beachwood (OH) guard Maishe Dailey in Rutgers’ 2016 recruiting class.

    Greg “Shoes” Vetrone was the lead recruiter on Thiam.

    Jon Rothstein of CBSSports.com first reported the commitment.

    Florida State became the latest school to offer 6-5 shooting guard Brandon Randolph of The Westtown (Pa) School. Randolphs’s stock is taking off and he’s recently added offers from Louisville, St. John’s and Xavier, among others…Syracuse associate head coach Mike Hopkins will watch Naz Reid on Wednesday at Roselle (N.J.) Catholic practice. Syracuse assistant Adrian “Red’ Autry also watched Reid on Saturday when RC played St. Patrick’s, as did Cincinnati assistant Darren Savino. The 6-foot-9 Reid is a sophomore big man who can shoot the 3 and appears to have pro potential. He holds offers from St. John’s, Seton Hall, Kansas and numerous other schools…On Friday, Autry will also watch 2018 point guard Aaron Clarke and small forward Louis King of Pope John XXIII…Also on the Pope John front, head coach Jason Hasson says Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon calls regularly on Moustapha Diagne, the 6-8 power forward now at Northwest Florida State. Diagne was ruled ineligible at Syracuse….Following his visit to Madison Square Garden on Sunday for the Villanova-St. John’s game, 2017 Archbishop Stepinac wing Jordan Tucker will visit Maryland for the Michigan on Feb. 21, his father confirmed to SNY.tv…After picking up MVP honors at the SNY Invitational, the stock of 6-2 Cardozo senior guard Aaron Walker has risen. St. Joe’s, DePaul, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Delaware, St. Bonaventure and Canisius have all expressed interest… Onyeka Okongwu, a 6-9 freshman from Chino Hills (CA), picked up offers from UCLA and USC. Chino Hill has the three Ball brothers who have all signed or committed to UCLA…St. John’s offered 2019 guard Bryan Antoine and 2-19 wing Scottie Lewis from the Ranney School (NJ), sources confirmed to SNY.tv.
