Kansas is the latest school to offer Brewster (N.H.) Academy power forward Taurean Thompson, his mother confirmed to SNY.tv.
“Yes, Coach [Norm] Roberts came to his game against South Kent and then offered him,” Thompson’s mother, Sherese, said.
She added that Wake Forest is also coming to see Thompson this weekend, and that Louisville and Arizona State have “expressed interest as well.”
Kansas already has two frontcourt commits in the Class of 2016 in big man Udoka Azubuike and power forward Mitch Lightfoot. Kansas also just offered 6-10 2017 Blair (N.J.) Academy big man Deng Gak.
Adam Finkelstein of ESPN first reported the Kansas offer to Thompson.
Thompson said this fall at the National Prep Showcase that Seton Hall and Syracuse were working the hardest for his services. After that, Georgetown, Providence, Pittsburgh and N.C. State stepped up their focus.
“I’m probably going to wait to see who goes to the draft and that’s when I’ll probably decide, all the way deep spring,” the 6-foot-10 Thompson said last month at the Hoophall Classic.
“I’m probably going to take some visits in the spring, I got three more officials,” he said. “So I’m probably going to use that for the long-distance schools”
Georgetown-bound guard Jagan Mosely told SNY.tv recently that he is recruiting Thompson to join him at Georgetown.
“Oh yeah, I’ve been talking to Taurean,” Mosely said. “He has an iPad and I think he has four schools [on his list] so there’s competition: Seton Hall, Georgetown, Providence and Syracuse.”
