GARDEN GROVE, Ca. — M.J. Walker, a five-star shooting guard from Jonesboro (Ga.) High School, says that three schools are recruiting him the hardest.

The 6-foot-5 forward, playing with 17U Atlanta Xpress, lists Maryland, Ohio State and Florida State as the schools that are recruiting him the most.

Walker holds offers from over 20 schools and has taken visits to all three of those schools.

“The three that I’ve visited are all recruiting me the same.” said Walker. He also mentioned that he would like to commit towards the end of his senior year.

Walker, who is also highly recruited for football, says that basketball is his main priority and he does not think he will play football in college.

“I’m not saying that I’m done playing football, but as of now, I’m focused on basketball.” said Walker.

Playing with Atlanta Xpress, Walker has averaged 20.0 points per game through the third stage of the UAA circuit, which puts him third in points per game in the 17U division. Atlanta Xpress has gone 5-7 overall after going 2-2 here.

Walker did not mention any upcoming visits, but he does plan to dedicate more of his time to his recruitment.

“My dad has handled most of the recruiting.” said Walker. “He’s starting to put it on me now, as far as talking to the coaches. He’s telling me every day to call them.”
