Delaware has hired former Notre Dame assistant Martin Ingelsby as its new head men’s basketball coach, multiple sources told SNY.tv on Tuesday.

Miami associate head coach Chris Caputo and Ohio State assistant Dave Dickerson were also in the mix.

A Philadelphia native with strong ties to that area, Ingelsby replaces Monte Ross, who was fired more than two months ago, March 18.

“He’s the whole package,” Brey told the Philadelphia Inquirer during the NCAA Tournament. “We’ve been known for our offensive efficiency and how we’ve played. He has as much input in what we do offensively as I do. We conspire on a lot of things.”

Two Delaware players already transferred in Kory Holden (South Carolina) and Chivarsky Corbett (UTSA).

The Delaware players said they were in the dark about the coaching search.

“We had no clue what’s going on,” one player told SNY.tv.

Also at Notre Dame, assistant Anthony Solomon left the staff to join John Thompson III’s staff at Georgetown.

ESPN’s Jeff Borzello previously reported the Ingelsby news.
