Makai Ashton-Langford and Makhtar Gueye of the Mass Rivals AAU program visited UConn on Tuesday and played pickup with the team.

Ashton-Langford, a 6-foot-2 Class of 2017 point guard from Cushing Academy, and Gueye, a 6-9 forward from Winchendon (MA) Academy, both hold offers from the Huskies. A.J. Reeves, a Class of 2018 shooting guard from Brimmer and May, was unable to attend because of finals.

“We take a traditional visit there, it was a good visit,” Vin Pastore of the Mass Rivals said Thursday by phone. “They went down to run with the [team].”

UConn continues to make Ashton-Langford a priority.

“He’s a top-50 level point guard,” Pastore said. “And I believe heading in the direction towards top 25 [in his class]. He’s a typical Connecticut guard. He’s an athletic, long, dynamic point guard. He can really defend. It’s traditionally what they’ve used in recruiting, like the guy that Makai’s played with, Jalen Adams.”

Providence and Louisville have also worked hard.

“Providence and Connecticut have put a lot of time into him,” Pastore said. “Louisville has spent a lot of time with him.”

Ashton-Langford could also get to visit Providence after he competes at the NBA Top 100 Camp.

“We’ll absolutely go down to Providence in June,” Pastore said.

Duke and Kentucky have shown interest and Pastore expects those schools to watch him come July.

“They know who he is,” he said. “I expect everybody will be there this summer.”

As for Gueye, he holds offers from UConn, VCU, Marquette, Creighton and Rutgers, among others.

“He’s a kid that’s goine from no offers to a dozen offers overnight,” Pastore said.

“He’s a 6-9 wing that has a high skillset,” Pastore added. “Can shoot it, can put it to the floor, runs well, so I think with him his upside is going to be realized as he continues to gets stronger. He has to get a lot stronger.”
