CHICAGO — Marcus Lee has cancelled at least three workouts with NBA teams, including one scheduled for Tuesday, a league source told SNY.tv.
It is unclear how many workouts the 6-foot-10 Lee had originally scheduled.
Lee said Friday he was still weighing his options regarding the NBA Draft and was unconcerned about a possible logjam in the Kentucky frontcourt should he return to campus.
“I’m definitely weighing my options, it’s definitely a process,” Lee said on Friday at the NBA Draft Combine. “Once I get back home I’ll be able to talk it through with my family and we’ll figure it out from there. We’ll kind of weigh the options and go from there knowing that there is a risk there in not knowing what might happen.”
Lee is not projected to be drafted by DraftExpress.com and is on record saying he’d be fine spending time in the NBA D-League.
“I see it as just another step and it’s totally fine and normal,” he told reporters.
Kentucky coach John Calipari recently said he expects Lee to remain in the Draft. Those comments came before the Combine, where Lee ranked statistically as the worst performer, according to DraftExpress.com.
If Lee does return to Kentucky, it will be to a crowded frontcourt where he will be fighting for playing time with returners Derek Willis, Isaac Humphries and Tai Wynyard and newcomers Bam Adebayo, Wenyen Gabriel and Sacha Killeya-Jones.
Kentucky remains in the mix for 6-10 uncommitted big man Marques Bolden, with Bolden now set to announce his college choice on Thursday between Kentucky, Duke and TCU.
“Then it’s going to be a battle in practice,” Lee said. “That’s how it was my freshman and my sophomore year. We had a lot of bigs and we battled every day in practice and that’s what happens.”
If Lee returns to campus, he may also keep his Willie Cauley-Stein-flavored hairstyle.
“As long as you play well it doesn’t matter what you do,” he said. “You gotta back it up somehow. As long as you back it up it doesn’t matter.”
Lee also isn’t backing off his claim that if he returns, Kentucky could go undefeated next season.
“I’m a confident person so I feel like I can do that every year and that’s how all athletes go by,” he said. “They don’t think about the losses. They don’t see the schedule and think. ‘Oh, that’s going to be a tough game.’ You gotta go into it and be like, ‘Oh, we’re going to destroy them.'”

Kentucky guard Isaiah Briscoe will work out for the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, his father told SNY.tv. Briscoe has had several other workouts, most recently with the Lakers. He has not hired an agent and has until May 25 to opt to return to campus or remain in the Draft.
