Malik Newman has not yet scheduled visits to N.C. State or anywhere else, but word that they are interested has already spread to recruits.

“When [assistant] coach [Heath Schroyer] told me about it, I wasn’t surprised because I have already been hearing about N.C. State and Malik,” said Nick Weatherspoon, a 6-foot-2 four-star guard out of Velma Jackson (MS). “It would be nice. We could play together because we are from the same state and almost the same area but if I feel that if it’s not a place for me then I’ll have to put some more thought into it. It’s big for N.C. State wanting us to play together but it would be hard for me to make that decision.”

The 6-4 Newman, who is being recruited to N.C. State by Orlando Early, has also been linked Kansas after opting to transfer from MIssissippi State.

Mississippi State is where Nick’s brother Quinndary Weatherspoon plays, thus the assumption by many that Nick will land there, too.

“It’s big because my brother and I have a real good chemistry on the court,” he said. “What we both can do especially on the fast break playing with my brother would be big but if that’s not the best situation for me I won’t be there but it’s very big.”

Weatherspoon, who averaged 22.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.1 steals per game at Velma. is being recruited hard by Ohio State, North Carolina, Louisville, N.C. State and Georgetown, according to his AAU coach Omhar Carter. All except UNC have offered.

    WILLS RECLASSES, ADDS OFFERS

Bryce Wills, a 6-5 point guard from Iona Prep and the PSA Cardinals, recently reclassed to 2019 from 2018 and continues to add offers, including one on Saturday from Wake Forest.

“My newest offer is from Temple and it’s great because my older brother spent his first year of college there as a student,” Wills said before the Wake offer. “When it comes to upcoming visits, I plan on taking visits to Maryland and Temple but I have not set up the dates yet. I’ll be going to the Nike Elite top 100 Camp and I’ll take a visit to Saint Louis in the process. I’m also going to a Providence camp on the 26th of June. I’m still working on whether or not I will be going to the St. John’s camp depending on my finals schedule.”

As for reclassing he said it was because “I’m still 15, I won’t turn 16 until October and it really helped my rankings and my recruitment.”

Wills said he thinks he may grow to be 6-7.

He said he’s hoping for an offer form Maryland.

DUKE SHOWING INTEREST IN LEWIS, ANTOINE

Duke assistant Jon Scheyer called on 2019 Ranney stars Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis on Thursday.

The two young stars are piling up offers, most recently adding Xavier and Richmond, while Team Rio director Brian Klatsky said Georgetown and St. John’s are working the hardest.

Both players visited Florida on Saturday — along with teammates Jalen Gaffney and Alex Klatsky — and will hit St. John’s Elite Camp on Wednesday.

Cole Swider, a 6-6 Class of 2018 shooting guard playing for St. Andrew’s School (RI) said one school working particularly hard.

“Boston College is definitely recruiting me the hardest,” he said. “I like Boston College because they were the first school to have serious interest and it’s close to home. Providence is also close to home and they just started becoming a national power house.”

He also holds offers from Creighton and DePaul.

**Drue Drinnon, a 6-foot 2018 point guard playing for Team Thad (TN), told SNY.tv: “Right now, Georgia is the only one that is coming for me the hardest. I plan on going on a visit to Florida and Tennessee soon.”

He holds offers from Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Florida and Georgia, among others.

**Nassir Little, a 6-6 2018 wing playing for Showtime Hoops (FL): “I’m taking a visit to UCLA this upcoming Monday, my latest offer is Louisville, and I’d say Florida is recruiting me the hardest.”

**Geo Baker, a 6-1 2017 point guard from Proctor Academy (MA) visits Rutgers on Monday.
