GARDEN GROVE, Calif. — Mohamed Bamba plans to visit UConn next Thursday, but won’t be able to make it out to UCLA this month.

“I was going to visit UCLA, sometime in August, but the trip here was cut short because something came up back home.” the 7-footer from the Westtown (Pa.) School and the PSA Cardinals said here at Adidas Nationas. “I plan on visiting UConn next Thursday, so it should be fun.”

Bamba is yet to take any official visits, but has taken unofficial visits to Maryland and St. John’s.

Right now, Duke seems to be the favorite for the big man from Harlem.

“Duke has a very rich history with Coach K,” Bamba said. “I think one of the biggest things that stand out to me about Duke is that all of their assistant coaches have played for Coach K at some point. That’s big. That shows that they’re a family.”

Although Duke may be the favorite, Bamba says that there are a lot of schools standing out to him now.

“There are a lot of schools coming at me,” he said. “I can’t really name a certain amount of schools. Hopefully by the end of August, I’ll be able to name schools.”

He has said he plans to cut to 10 sometime in August.

As of now, the potential package deal of Wendell Carter and Gary Trent Jr. are favored to attend Duke and many speculate that Bamba could join those two.

Right now, all three players are here at the Adidas Nations.

“I haven’t been talking, as far as a package deal, but I’ve been talking to guys and seeing what they like.” Bamba said. ” There are a lot of guys in this building that I would love to play with.”

He may not be able to name any top schools, but the recruiting process sure seems to be heating up for the five-star prospect. For now, he will try and lead Team Rose to an Adidas Nations title, as they lead the Pool B standings with a 2-1 record.
