Kris Wilkes is down to five schools.
The 6-foot-7 small forward from Indianapolis (IN) North Central announced on Twitter he’s down to Indiana, UConn, Illinois, and Xavier, and UCLA.
He cut Butler, Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State and Washington
“I think it came down to having strong relationships with those schools,” Wilkes told the Indianapolis Star. “The times I have talked to them, I’ve been getting to know them better. Some of the other schools, I didn’t know them as well.”
Wilkes, who won a gold medal with the USA U18 team this summer, previoulsly said home state Indiana was strongly in the mix.
“Yeah, I talk to them almost every day,” Wlikes told SNY.tv this summer. “I talk to different people. They just told me to keep working hard and show me more about the campus and I’m getting to know them.”
He also wants to visit UCLA.
“I think the next place I want to take an official visit is to UCLA because they offered me a long time ago and I still haven’t had a chance to get out there,” he told SNY.tv. “We are scheduling dates around this summer ball that I have going on. So I think it depends on what goes on here at USA.”
Wilkes kept his cuts to schools that have offered him, so Kentucky did not make the list.
“I might cut it down to three before I decide or might just leave it at five,” he told the Indy Star “I definitely feel good about those five schools. I feel like I have a good relationship with all five of them.”
