Following an official visit to Kansas last weekend, Billy Preston, the 6-foot-10 Class of 2017 forward from Oak Hill Academy (VA), will take one to Syracuse the weekend of Oct. 14, Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said.

Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim recently visited Preston at Oak Hill, the powerhouse that also produced former Syracuse and current Knicks star Carmelo Anthony.

“He’s [a] top-5 [player] in the country, I don’t care what scouting services say,” Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said of Preston. “Nobody has his skill level and upside at 6-9. He can score off the bounce, get to the rim, shoot the three, and pass and handle like a guard.”

A native of California, Preston had been focusing on Kansas, USC and Maryland, but opened up his recruitment last week.

Indiana head coach Tom Crean was in recently to see Preston, as was Kentucky assistant Kenny Payne.

As for the Kansas visit, Preston was there along with a slew of Class of 2017 talents, including guards Trevon Duval and Collin Sexton.
