SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Trae Young and Michael Porter Jr. led MoKan Elite to the Peach Jam championship last July.
Now Porter Jr. has an idea on where his AAU teammate will land for college.
“He hasn’t told me anything, I don’t even think he knows but I’m thinking Oklahoma or Kansas,” the 6-foot-10 Washington-bound Porter Jr. said last weekend at the Hoophall Classic, where he was the unofficial Most Outstanding Player.
“I think Oklahoma is best for him because he’ll be able to shine.”

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Lorenzo Romar’s seat at Washington is so hot that some folks in the Twittersphere are calling for him to be fired before next season arrives.
Romar has the projected No. 1 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft in Markelle Fultz, and yet the Huskies (9-9, 2-4 Pac-12) don’t have anything close to an NCAA Tournament résumé at this point.
If Fultz misses the NCAAs and then goes No. 1 in the Draft, it would mark the second straight season the top pick missed the Dance after LSU’s Ben Simmons did so last year.
With Michael Porter Jr. coming in next season, it’s at least theoretically possible that the No. 1 pick could miss the NCAA Tournament three years running if the Huskies were to fail to qualify in 2018, too.
Mohamed Bamba is set to take his official visit to Kentucky on Friday and Saturday, and the 6-foot-11 big man from Westtown (PA) School will be on hand for the game against No. 24 South Carolina on Saturday evening (6 p.m. ESPN).
Bamba has trimmed his list to Kentucky, Duke, Texas and Michigan. He has already visited Texas and Michigan and plans to trip to Duke Feb. 26-28, with a decision sometime in late March or early April. Bamba, who may not end up taking his fifth official visit, will play in the McDonald’s All-American Game on March 29 in Chicago.
“Yeah, definitely probably toward the end of March, early April,” he said last weekend at the Hoophall Classic. “I kind of want to get home after spring break. I kind of want to do final visits with the coaches and then make a decision after that.”

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Like any shooter in a slump, Isaac Hamilton just kept putting the ball up, figuring it would eventually go in.
Did it ever.
The senior guard scored 33 points — three off his career best — and hit a career-high nine 3-pointers to help No. 3 UCLA rout Arizona State 102-80 on Thursday night.
The Bruins improved to 11-0 at home.
The performance left Hamilton speechless. He cut his tongue in the game and needed stitches afterward, leaving him unavailable to talk to media.
“He’s back,” guard Lonzo Ball said. “I like playing with him like that.”

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Jordan Bell scored a career-high 26 points, Casey Benson had 15 on five 3-pointers and No. 11 Oregon rolled to an 86-63 victory over California on Thursday night.
The Ducks (17-2, 6-0 Pac-12) matched a 104-year-old school record with their 15th consecutive win, but they lost preseason All-America Dillon Brooks to a lower leg injury late in the first half.
Brooks, who had offseason surgery on his left foot, limped off the court as Oregon was building a 44-30 halftime lead. Oregon officials tweeted that Brooks had injured his lower left leg after he did not appear with his teammates for the second half.
“Guys are gonna have to step up,” Ducks coach Dana Altman told reporters. “We’ve got good players, and we’ll just keep playing.”
