  • INDIANAPOLIS — Hamidou Diallo says his plan right now is to be at Kentucky next season.

And assuming he returns, the 6-foot-6 wing would like Mohamed Bamba to join him in Big Blue Nation.

“Definitely, we’re trying to get Mo down here,” Diallo told me in the Kentucky locker room at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, where the No. 2 Wildcats face No. 15 Northern Kentucky on Friday. “He’s been a head case but we’re still working on that. Hopefully it happens.”

The 6-foot-11 Bamba out of Westtown (PA) and the PSA Cardinals AAU program has taken officials to Kentucky, Duke, Texas and Michigan but has assumed a very low profile of late. He was spotted on social media visiting China and doing good works there, but not much has been heard on the recruiting front. He’s expected to commit in late March or early April.

GREENVILLE, S.C. — This week last year was a whirlwind for Seton Hall.

The Pirates had just won their first Big East Tournament championship in 23 years, ended a 10-year NCAA Tournament bid drought and flown across the country in the span of two days.

As a result, the high times came crashing down rather quickly for Seton Hall. Unable to regain their composure, the Pirates fell to Gonzaga in their first tournament game in a decade 68-52, in Denver.

But that’s old news to the current core of Seton Hall’s team. Angel Delgado, Khadeen Carrington and Desi Rodriguez are back for another shot at notching the Pirates’ first tournament win since 2004. After dropping their last NCAA game as the higher seed, these Pirates aren’t taking anything for granted this time around.

CIA Bounce point guard Howard Washington is headed to Syracuse.

Head coach Jim Boeheim made a scholarship offer on Saturday to the Class of 2017 Athlete Institute point guard.

“I grew up loving ‘Cuse and I love the ‘Cuse coaching staff,” Washington told ZAGSBLOG. “And I feel that ‘Cuse fits my style of play and feel as though I can make an impact right. I’m a point guard who can score from three and get to the rim and will lead a team and will do whatever it takes to win.”

Washington is a teammate of incoming Syracuse forward Oshae Brissett.

“Howard’s dream school has always been Syracuse,” CIA Bounce head coach Tony McIntyre said. “He grew up in Buffalo watching the Orange and will now join them for 2017. He fits in the mold of what ‘Cuse runs and will be able to fit in easily.”
