David Duke, the 6-foot-4 point guard from Cushing Academy (MA), has confirmed three official visits: Florida, Virginia Tech, and Villanova according to Rivals.
Duke is a native of Providence, Rhode Island, and the Friars are considered one of his final four schools.
Duke will travel to Gainesville this weekend, followed by Virginia Tech next weekend, and Villanova on Oct.5. Duke broke down all four of his final schools for Peegs’ Jeff Rabjohns in August.
Florida: “Coach (Mike) White, he’s a new coach there. He’s been doing a great job of recruiting me, sending me stuff they’re doing. He sees a lot of potential in me, and he says that I can come there and develop and go on to the next level. They play fast, and that’s how I like to play.”
Virginia Tech: “Coach Buzz Williams is a great coach. He’s brought that program from where it was before to where it is now. It’s a big difference. All his former players come back all the time. I saw stuff on their players. They say Buzz had a tremendous effect on their lives. He also loves to play tough and fast.”
Villanova: “Coach (Jay) Wright, he’s been contacting me a lot, telling me if I would come in 2018 that they’re possibly losing Jalen Brunson and that would open up a spot for me, that they have two other wings in 2018 and only need an elite guard,” Garland told Peegs.
Providence: ““Coach (Ed) Cooley and coach (Brian) Blaney they’ve been really involved. They show total respect to my family and me. They both do a good job telling me how they’d develop me if I’d go there, how they develop their guards, Kris Dunn and those guys.”
The No. 5 combo guard in the 2018 class according to 247Sports, Duke is expected to commit sometime this fall before the signing period.
