Luther Muhammad, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Hudson Catholic (NJ), committed to The Ohio State University on Friday night.

“I’m blessed to announce that I will be taking my talents to The Ohio State University,” he said in this video.

Muhammad had a top five of Ohio State, Xavier, St. John’s, Virginia and West Virginia. Ranked No. 94 by ESPN.com, Muhammad has visited the first four but did not trip to West Virginia this weekend as originally planned.

Muhammad visited Ohio State in September after former Butler coach Chris Holtmann and assistant Mike Schrage left the Big East school where they were recruiting Muhammad.

“Ohio State is getting the total package in Luther Muhammad,” Chris Alesi of the NY Rens, Muhammad’s AAU club, said. “The tangibles are all there: great scorer, great playmaker, one of the best defenders in the country. But what separates Luther are the intangibles – he’s tough, loyal and above all else, he wins wherever he goes. I expect that to continue at the next level and beyond. He has a chance to make a career out of this.”

This week has been an exceptional week of recruiting for the Buckeyes. Ohio State earned pledges from two other four-star prospects: Jaedon Ledee and Duane Washington.

Muhammad averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 7 games on the EYBL circuit this summer with the NY Rens.

He is the third player to commit on his Hudson Catholic team, following small forward Louis King, who announced Thursday evening for Oregon, and point guard Jahvon Quinerly, who picked Arizona in August.
