On Saturday, September 30, Rudy King, Overtime, and Game 7 Marketing invite the New York community to help support those impacted by the recent hurricanes in Texas, Florida, and the Caribbean.
Local high school basketball players will play in a series of games to show their support for those affected. Athletes participating include star players Moses Brown, John Wilson and Kofi Cockburn (boys) and Kateri Poole, Emily Engstler and Earlette Scott (girls).
Doors will open at 5 p.m. at the Gauchos Gym in the Bronx, where guests will be asked to donate $10 at the door, to benefit the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), Florida Disaster Fund and Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.
“As a human-being, husband and father looking at what has happened in Florida, Texas and the Caribbean it is heart wrenching to see others in such dire need,” King said. “I felt it was my obligation as a man to help as much as I could, also taking this opportunity to teach our youth and future leaders the importance of helping in a humanitarian capacity, leading by example.”
