Kentucky has suspended forward Tai Wynyard for a violation of team rules.
“Tai has been suspended from team activities due to a violation of team rules until further notice,” a team spokesman told ZAGSBLOG.
The 6-foot-10 New Zealand native has played in just eight games, tallying 43 minutes, 8 points, 14 rebounds, 3 steals and a block while also dealing with a back injury.
“He’s tried to come back twice — it hasn’t worked — so I think at this point he’ll be sitting out the rest of the year,” Kentucky coach John Calipari said of the injury on Monday, per SECSports.com.. “I don’t think there’d be any chance [he’ll return] at this point. He’ll be out.”
Wynyard could return home to New Zealand and attempt to play professionally there.
