Uziel Muteba, the 6-foot-3 combo guard from Lincoln (GA) Academy, told ZAGSBLOG on Wednesday that Nebraska and Gonzaga are the two schools currently recruiting him the hardest. He broke down each school:
Nebraska: “Coach [Tim] Miles is definitely a great guy. He loves all of his players, which I really like. He also knows how to use his shooters. He’s made some really good guards. I really like the system that they’re running over there.”
Gonzaga: “They’re just a win-first school. They’ve definitely established a winning culture. Coach Mark [Few] knows how to recruit guys by just pitching them the winning factor. He knows how to spread the floor and create space for players that can shoot the ball. That’s what I like the most.”
Muteba was supposed to visit Gonzaga in late February but had to cancel. “I’m planning on rescheduling that visit for later, but I honestly don’t know when,” said Muteba. “It will be soon.”
In addition to Gonzaga and Nebraska, Muteba is also receiving interest from Oregon and has taken visits to Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Middle Tennessee, Georgia Tech, and Georgia.“Right now, my recruitment just picked,” said Muteba. “I have offers from a few low mid-majors but I’m picking up some interest from high-majors. I’ve taken a few visits so far this season. Hopefully, my recruitment picks up this AAU season.”
Muteba will most likely be playing with Team United on Nike EYBL Circuit this summer. He spoke about what he brings to the court, as he said, “I’m a 6-3 combo guard with great range. I can shoot the high school three, the NBA three, off the dribble, but I prefer to catch and shoot.” “I’m a glue guy. I do whatever I need to help the team win,” he said. “I might not be the splashiest guard but I can definitely get the job done.” Muteba also spoke about a timetable for a possible college decision, as he said, “Honestly, I have no idea. Hopefully, I can make my decision sometime later this year or even earlier. I’m not in a rush. I just want to find the right school.” “I want to go to a school that’s great academically and really fits my style of play. That’s the school that I’ll choose.” Follow Jacob on Twitter Follow Adam Zagoria on Twitter
