Serrel Smith, the 6-foot-3 guard from St. Petersburg (FL), has committed to Maryland, he announced on Twitter Wednesday.
Smith originally signed with Ole Miss but was granted his release after the coaching change. Smith chose the Terrapins over Clemson, Wichita State, and West Virginia.
“Everything from the coaches, the players, the style of play; just everything,” Smith told Rivals of Maryland. “The whole facilities are beautiful and having a coach that has been there before and has a winning history is something that I wanted to be a part of.”
Smith is the fourth member of Mark Turgeon’s 2018 recruiting class that includes five-star and McDonald’s All-American Jalen Smith and four-stars Aaron Wiggins and Eric Ayala.
According to 247Sports, Smith is a three-star prospect and No. 13 combo guard in the class of 2018.
