Several schools will meet this week in Dallas with Mike Mathews, the mentor for Aundre Hyatt, the 6-foot-6, 215-pound small forward from the Miller (VA) School.

“Virginia Tech, Seton Hall, LSU, Rutgers and FSU are all coming to sit down with me this week,” Mathews said. “Aundre is in Virginia but those coaches are coming out here to Dallas because EYBL and Under Armour are going on here this weekend.”

Hyatt recently had home visits with Virginia Tech head coach Buzz Williams and Temple head man Fran Dunphy.

Hyatt is still weighing going to college in 2018 or ’19 and previously told ZAGSBLOG he will decide “probably in the spring.” Still, he’s planning to play AAU this summer.

He broke down several of his top schools during a previous interview:

Rutgers: “Rutgers just wants me to jump in and enjoy the program. They said they’ll take me in either ’18 or ’19. It doesn’t matter. They just want a shooter.”

Seton Hall: “Seton Hall basically says the same thing. We need a wing that can shoot it. That’s why they’re recruiting me.”

Florida State: “They reached out and offered me, so did Virginia Tech. They said that they need a wing shooter as well and I should improve on my defense.”

Virginia Tech: “They said they need someone to replace Chris Clarke and I could be their guy. They need a shooter to space the floor.”

LSU: “LSU said that they really need a shooter bad to help out the program because they don’t really have that good of wings. They’re going to have a good 2018 class.  And they said I could be really good in the 2019 class.”

Wherever he goes, he plans to be a “three-level scorer, either at the two or the three,” he said. “I feel like I’ll be a defensive presence because I’ve been working at it pretty hard. And just a team player.”
