NORWALK, CA — Scottie Barnes, the 6-foot-7 small forward from the University (FL) School, told ZAGSBLOG on Friday at the Pangos All-American Camp that Florida, Florida State, and Miami are the three schools working the hardest in his recruitment. He broke down each school:
Florida: “It’s close to home. It’s only three hours away, so it would be easy to travel back home.”
Florida State: “They did well this year. They made it to the Elite 8 and they’re a very good program. They know how to win.”
Miami: “It’s only an hour from me. They have a good coach and a very nice campus.”
Barnes also holds offers from schools such as Oregon, Kentucky, Kansas, and LSU, among others, with interest from Villanova and Arizona. According to 247Sports, Barnes is ranked as the No. 7 overall player in the Class of 2020 and the No. 1 player from the state of Florida. In the five-on-five drills at the Pangos Camp on Saturday, Barnes finished with eight points, six rebounds, and two assists. “There are a lot of good players here with a lot of talent,” he said. “Everyone is trying to show what they can do out here, so it’s very fun.” “I’ve just been trying to play my regular game and stick to what I’m doing,” said Barnes on playing in front of NBA Scouts. “I don’t want to try and do too much.
