Justin McKoy, the 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward from Cary (NC) Panther Creek and Team Loaded, committed to Penn State on Wednesday.
He also considered Cincinnati and Clemson.
“I chose Penn State because of the relationship with the coaching staff, the way I see myself fitting in, and the players,” he said. “On my visit, I bonded well with everyone and I loved it. More importantly I thought about what a degree Penn State could do for me. I know the academics are top of the line and the alumni program that they have built is second to none. I couldn’t be happier anywhere else.
“I bring a versatile skillset; with the game of basketball changing to be more position-less, my ability to play and guard multiple positions is very valuable especially in Coach [Pat] Chambers’ program. I play with a goal to win meaning I’ll sacrifice anything to win and that is valued a lot at Penn State.”
He joins small forward Patrick Kelly and power forward Abdou Tetchueng Tsimbila in Penn State’s 2019 class.
