R.J. Hampton, the Class of 2020 point guard from Little Elm (TX), hosted Kansas on Monday at his high school.
Hampton met with Kansas head coach
Bill Self and assistant
Jerrance Howard about their interest in him.
“[Self] said that R.J. has really earned the right to be recruited by the best of the best programs,” said
Rod Hampton, the player’s father. “All of them are great programs but he has to find the best fit that’s going to let him be R.J.
“At Kansas they can check a lot of the boxes he needs to be successful.”
Hampton is coming off a recent official visit to Memphis along with fellow Class of 2020 star
Jalen Green. Class of 2019 big man
James Wiseman was also at Memphis that week for an unofficial, and
stressed to Hampton that he’d like him to reclass to 2019 and join forces with him.
Hampton is currently in the Class of 2020, but could potentially reclass down the road.
He won’t attend Kansas’ ‘Late Night in the PHog,’ but will be at the USA Basketball minicamp in Colorado Springs, Col., Oct 5-7, and will then visit Kentucky for Big Blue Madness Oct. 12.
