  • Gonzaga leapfrogs Kansas for No. 1 in men’s AP Top 25 after knocking off Duke, which falls to No. 3

    Share Zagsblog Share Zagsblog
After knocking off then-No. 1 Duke last Wednesday in the Maui Invitational final, Gonzaga leapfrogged Kansas to become the new No. 1 team in the nation.

It’s the third time in program history that Gonzaga has risen to No. 1. But, the Zags have now climbed to the nation’s top spot in three of the last seven seasons.

Kansas remained at No. 2 despite beating No. 5 Tennessee to win the NIT Season Tip-Off on Friday at Barclays Center.

    Duke fell to No. 3.

Virginia, Nevada, Tennessee, Michigan, Auburn, Michigan State and KEntucky round out the Top 10.

After last week, when the Big East didn’t have a team in the Top 25 for the first time since February 1982, Villanova re-enters the poll at No. 23.
