USC small forward Jordan Usher will transfer to Georgia Tech, he announced Tuesday via Twitter.
“I am happy and proud to share that I am a Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket,” said Usher. “I am excited to start classes and practice with my teammates. #TogetherWeSwarm.”
Usher played a season and a half with USC, departing after the recently completed fall semester.
He must complete a year of residency at Georgia Tech and will become eligible to play for the Yellow Jackets following the conclusion of the fall, 2019 term. He will be eligible for the remainder of the 2019-20 season and all of the 2020-21 season.
“We’re excited to have Jordan come home and join our program,” said Georgia Tech head coach [Josh] Pastner in a press release Tuesday. “He’s a local young man who was a top-100 prospect coming out of high school. He plays with a very high motor, has excellent skills and helps us with our desire to ‘get old and stay old.’ He’s also a high-caliber academic student who had offers from Ivy League schools.”
As a freshman in 2017-18, Usher averaged 4.8 points and 2.0 rebounds in 36 games. This season, Usher has averaged 8.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in 12 games.
