The Knicks announced Monday that they have signed guard Kadeem Allen to a Two-Way contract.
Tuesday is the deadline for signing such contracts. The 6-foot-3 Allen is averaging 13.7 points, 5.7 assists and 5.2 rebounds over 30.7 minutes in 25 games (all starts) for the Westchester Knicks this season. He joined the Knicks G League team after appearing in two pre-season games and being waived by New York on October 13. He has helped lead Westchester to a 16-10 record so far this season, second best in the Eastern Conference.
Allen was originally drafted 53rd in 2017 by the Boston Celtics. When I asked last week for a story for the Arizona Daily Star if his ultimate goal was to get back to the NBA, Allen said, “Yeah, just every day try to stay consistent, try to get better, and hopefully I can get back to the league.”
Allan Houston, the former Knicks star who is now the general manager for the Westchester Knicks, said he has been impressed with Allen.Allen joins Isaiah Hicks as the Knicks’ Two-Way players. Allonzo Trier, who was originally signed to a Two-Way deal and who also attended Arizona, signed an NBA contract on December 13.
