Landers Nolley, the redshirt freshman transfer from Virginia Tech, committed to Memphis on Monday.

Nolley also considered Georgia and Ole Miss. He will have to sit one year to play three unless he receives an NCAA waiver.

The 6-foot-7 guard averaged 15.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists last season at Virginia Tech.

Nolley entered the transfer portal last year after Buzz Williams left Virginia Tech for Texas A&M a year ago. But Nolley elected to stay at Virginia Tech after they hired Mike Young.

At Langston Hughes, he set the school record for career points in just two seasons and was named the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Player of the Year – and all-state – his senior season. He averaged 31 points eight rebounds and three assists as a senior.

In leading Langston Hughes High to an 85-78 win over Gainesville (Ga.) High in the Class 6A state title game in 2018, he posted a double-double of 34 points and 10 rebounds. He also had six assists and three steals.

He scored 26 points with six rebounds and four blocks in the 2017 6A title game. As a junior, he averaged 25 points and seven rebounds.

Nolley had a 56-point game in high school and led the state of Georgia in scoring as a senior.

While playing for Curie High in Chicago as a sophomore, he averaged 17 points per game en route to leading the team to the 4A state title.

On Sunday, Memphis guard Tyler Harris announced he was transferring. In two years with the Tigers, Harris averaged 9.9 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Memphis missed out on Jalen Green, when he opted for the NBA G League pathway, and is still in the mix for Greg Brown, who will announce Friday between several schools, including Memphis, the G League and overseas.

Memphis freshman forward Precious Achiuwa has yet to announce his plans regarding the NBA Draft, but is a projected lottery pick.
