By JACOB POLACHECKJulian Reese, the 6-foot-9 power forward from St. Frances Academy (MD), announced his commitment to Maryland on Sunday, via Instagram.
“The staff did a good job of building a relationship with me,” Reese told ZAGSBLOG via text. “They made me feel like UMD was the place to be.”
Reese, who is ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 20 power forward and No. 104 overall player in the Class of 2021, chose Maryland over schools such as LSU, Seton Hall, Virginia Tech, George Washington and Coastal Carolina, among others.
“I feel like I’d be a great fit in their offense,” Reese said. “I’m a 6-foot-9 hybrid forward that can do things like rebound, block shots, shoot jumpers and put the ball on the floor.”
He is the first commit in Maryland’s 2021 class.
“I’m most excited to play in front of my hometown and make my family proud,” he said.
Reese is the younger brother of Terrapins incoming women’s recruit Angel Reese.
