Chet Holmgren, the 7-foot center from Minnehaha Academy (MN), broke down his recruitment with Evan Daniels of 247Sports on Wednesday.
Holmgren mentioned that Georgetown, Gonzaga, Memphis, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina and Ohio State are prioritizing him the most.
Holmgren has officially visited Gonzaga and Ohio State. He also has taken an unofficial visit to Georgetown.
Holmgren said that he has conducted Zoom interview meetings with Georgetown, Memphis, Michigan, and North Carolina.
As far as a decision timetable, Holmgren said, “definitely thinking of cutting my list sometime in early fall, then will probably make one more cut down the road and then make my decision early spring or late winter.”
Holmgren was asked about his thoughts on the G League route, which poses as another option for many high-major prospects.
“I personally don’t know enough about that route to make a definitive answer one way or the other,” Holmgren said. “All routes are intriguing, there are so many new routes for everybody to choose. It’s hard enough to pick from 30 schools but now I have to pick from five different options, it’s a lot but a degree has always been big to my parents and to me as well so right now I’m definitely thinking college.”
One mock draft projects him to be the third pick of the 2022 NBA Draft.
According to 247Sports, Holmgren is ranked No. 2 nationally and is the No. 1 center for the class of 2021.
